Considering an Internship or Career with the State Department?

Your one-stop source for exploring State Department careers is our www.careers.state.gov website.  For smartphone users, the mobile app is another option: http://careers.state.gov/apps

If you'd like a quick introduction to Foreign Service careers, please take a look at this video
, “Changing the World: Joining the Foreign Service.”

State Department internships offer you the opportunity to gain a better understanding of careers at State.   Internship opportunities are outlined in detail in the
Student Programs section of the site, where you can also find our internship brochure.  The Fall 2015 internship application is open now, with deadline of March 2, so you can go to USAJobs now to apply.

For those of you interested in paid internships via the Pathways Program, find details and sign up for "Keep Me Informed" here.  Remember, the key is to have your resume all ready to go on USAJobs and sign up for alerts of Pathways openings.  Rapid action is essential to have a good chance to land a Pathways internship.

And if the Virtual Student Foreign Service internships sound like a good option, you can learn about the program and review the list of projects from previous years at
the VSFS site

Please follow my outreach activities on Facebook, so you'll know when I am offering info sessions at locations around the DC Metro Region.  You can also find your closest Diplomat in Residence on our site map.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck, Terry
