UMD Community Gatherings in Response to Recent Tragedies

University of Maryland Community Gatherings Next Week in Response to Recent Tragedies

Please spread the word.

In light of the recent horrific tragedies this week and over the last few weeks, there are a few resources we want to make sure the University of Maryland community is aware of. In addition to no appointment needed walk-in hours at the Counseling Center for students who need support, we are also offering two community gatherings:

A SPACE TO BE
Wed. 7/13 at 4pm-5:30pm, Grand Ballroom Lounge
For Students, Staff, & Faculty
This gathering is grounded in offering you a chance to be in community with others while thinking about what you are doing for yourself and what you are doing with others during this difficult time. We will begin at 4pm by doing some grounding meditation work and have opportunities to connect and support each other based on identity. Co-sponsored and co-facilitated by the Office of Diversity & Inclusion and the Counseling Center. Questions? Contact Jacki Mac at jmac507@umd.edu or Domonic Rollins at rollins1@umd.edu.

DROP-IN COMMUNITY SUPPORT AT THE NYUMBURU CULTURAL CENTER
Thurs. 7/14 at 12pm-1:30pm, Multipurpose Room Nyumburu Cultural Center
For Students, Staff, & Faculty
Psychologists will be offering a collective community space to support healing and self-care. Co-Sponsored by the Counseling Center and Nyumburu Cultural Center. Questions? Contact Jacki Mac at jmac507@umd.edu.

We also hope you are checking in with one another. People will be differently affected by recent events but acknowledgement that this is a difficult time is essential.
