Friday, September 6 . 10AM to 5:30PM
Clarice Smith Center
It's been 150 years since the signing of the
Emancipation Proclamation, and 50 years since the March on Washington for Jobs
and Freedom. Are we free and equal yet? How far have we come? How much further
is there to go?
We
invite you to reflect on these questions as keynote speakers Julian Bond,
Marian Wright Edelman and Touré place these historical events in context of the
ongoing march towards freedom and equality. In addition, activists, artists,
faith leaders and scholars will share stories about the work being done locally
and nationally through today's civil rights movements.
Join
us as we commemorate the past and explore the work that still needs to be done.
