Nueva Vida serves more than 3,500 Latinas and families a year, most of whom are women without insurance and living in poverty. The organization advocates for and facilitates the timely access of state of the art, lifesaving cancer screening, diagnostic, and treatment services. Those diagnosed with cancer are offered much needed mental health support, including one-on-one peer counseling, individual therapy, and support groups, as well as complementary and alternative medicine activities, such as yoga, recreational day trips, and mind-body therapy.
Ideal candidates must have deep interest in working with underserved populations and women's issues and preferably be bilingual (English / Spanish). However, for interns interested in the mission of Nueva Vida and who do not speak Spanish, the organization does offer intern positions in development and fundraising and support to Executive Director.
Due to the
nature of the assignments, this internship is ideal for undergraduate students
interested in gaining professional experience in an office setting in the
nonprofit industry. The commitment is a minimum of 10 hours weekly for the
length of an academic semester. The volunteering commitment can range upon your
availability. Candidates should send resume along with brief cover letter,
including time and dates available, to mdarling@nueva-vida.org,
subject: Internship at Nueva Vida. Please visit the website for more
information: www.nueva-vida.org.
