Many believe that diversity in the workplace is defined by a vision or
set of policies. Actually, it starts by developing a diversity mindset
in ourselves. At its core, this mindset is about embracing diversity
with an open mind and heart that is then able
to accept others' unique qualities. Contributing to diversity requires
us to be aware of how we 'add to' our campus community rather than what
we 'take from' it. Think about how you behave in the workplace and among
your colleagues. Consider the possibility
of a different perspective. Think about how to make a positive
contribution--not because it's necessarily good for YOU, but because
it's the best way to serve others and show your best self.
