On these cold days in College Park, I wanted to share
with you one of the unique ways UMD students can go away next semester -
Maryland-in-Havana!
Students spend a semester in Havana, Cuba focusing on
upper level coursework in Latin American studies (WMST469 & HIST369) and
Spanish language (SPAN401). In addition, students enroll in a photojournalism
course (JOUR459). This program is run in partnership with American University
and Casa de las Americas.
We are accepting applications for the fall 2012 semester from students with advanced Spanish language skills and a serious interest in learning about Cuba and Latin American culture. This is a new program and we're looking to identify qualified and interested students so please help us spread the word. This program complements the UM Department of Spanish and Portuguese semester study abroad program, Maryland-in-Sevilla<https://myea.umd.edu/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.ViewProgram&Program_ID=10249&Type=O&sType=O>
Program & scholarship applications are due March 15.
