The National
Museum of American History presents Feeding America: Labor Politics and Food in
which they will host a film screening followed by a discussion with various
scholars. This event is held in conjunction with the new exhibition,
FOOD: Transforming the American Table, 1950-2000, located in the National
Museum of American History.
The film Harvest of Loneliness by Gilbert G. Gonzalez and Vivian Price will be screened from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM (doors open at 1:00 PM), followed by a discussion with authors Matt Garcia, Don Mitchell, and Melanie DuPuis, along with museum curator Steve Velasquez. They will discuss the intersections of food, politics, and labor in the U.S. and how these issues have shaped American food production, economics, agriculture, politics, labor, and society in the past 50 years. After the discussion at 3:30 PM, a book signing will be held inside the exhibit FOOD: Transforming the American Table, 1950-2000. Books will be available for sale.
