Friday is the deadline to complete their applications for summer 2013
faculty-led summer programs and for the summer 2013 Education Abroad
Scholarship!
Are your students looking for scholarships to help them study abroad this
summer? Please refer them to http://ter.ps/moneyabroad for information
on identifying scholarships for Study Abroad.
Education Abroad awards a limited number of partial
scholarships (up to $1,000) to students with demonstrated financial need who
plan to study abroad in the summer on Maryland faculty-led programs. There are also limited funds available for
students who plan to study abroad through other programs or institutions as
well.
The deadline for students to complete their applications for
the UMD Education Abroad Scholarship<http://www.international.umd.edu/studyabroad/4490>
for Summer 2013 is THIS FRIDAY, March 1, 2013, regardless of the program
application deadline. For students
planning to study abroad in the 2013-2014 Fall semester or academic year, the
deadline to apply for scholarships is March 15, 2013. No late applications will
be considered.
Students who are Pell Grant recipients who plan to study
abroad in the same country for at least 4 weeks this summer, or for the Fall/
Academic Year 2013-2014, are strongly encouraged to apply to the Gilman
Scholarship, a prestigious and generous national award. National deadline is March 5, so students
should be in touch with the National Scholarships Office (Gilman@umd.edu<mailto:Gilman@umd.edu>)
as soon as possible if they have not already done so.
