Work Study Position in Education Abroad this Summer!

Position Title:  Office Assistant

Total Number of Hours Needed Per Week:  10 - 15 / Flexible
 
Hourly Wage:  $9.25 [U]
 
Job Description:  This summer, Education Abroad will be moving from Holzapfel Hall to Susquehanna Hall. We will need assistance at this time to help us in carrying out our daily responsibilities. The function of the Office Assistant in Education Abroad will be to assist our office with this transition. This will include a variety of administrative functions such as organizing and labeling files, compiling reports and information from student data, and utilizing our online application system, MyEA. Other daily functions will include answering phone calls and e-mails, handling faxes, welcoming visitors to our office, and providing general information on study abroad.
 
Qualifications:  Applicants must have Federal workstudy for the Summer 2013 term. Required skills are:
  • Strong customer service background
  • Can demonstrate strong academic record
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsiblities
  • Ability to work well with a large staff
  • Be able to remain organized in high energy environment
  • Preferred that student has some international experience i.e. lived, worked, traveled, and/or studied in another country.
Learning Opportunity:  This is an opportunity for students interested in learning how an Education Abroad office functions within the greater university. They will be able to learn how Education Abroad works with several departments on campus to assist students in fitting study abroad into their 4-year plan at University of Maryland. They will also have the opportunity to strengthen their abilities to function effectively within a fast-paced office setting.
