IRC Refugee Special Public Health Summer Intern

An excellent global internship for those interested in public health & medicine. This organization is located in nearby Silver Spring:

IRC’s Special Health Needs Program serves all refugee and asylee complex medical cases resettled by the SWRC, including victims of trafficking and special protection cases.The program focuses on reducing healthcare disparities for medically vulnerable clients by connecting them to needed treatment, education, resources, and psychosocial support. Health concerns of Special Health Needs clients may include: physical and developmental disabilities, mental illness, serious communicable diseases, pregnancy, cancer, HIV/AIDS, as well as complex chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. This is an unpaid internship; school credit may be received depending on your program and institution.
